Apparel Textile Sourcing Miami ups its game with strategic schedule shift for second year

Published

JP Communications-run trade fair Apparel Textile Sourcing Miami (ATSM) announced on Monday that it has pushed back the date of its May 2019 event to coincide with Miami Fashion Week and will also be adding a range of new sections to the show floor including footwear and technical textiles for its second edition.

By pushing the show back a week in May so that it takes place at the same time as the US’ second largest fashion week, ATSM hopes to appeal to over 12,000 fashion industry professionals who are expected to be in South Florida at the time.

“The debut of ATSM 2018 was very successful, providing designers and sourcing professionals global reach to manufacturers,” explained designer Rene Ruiz in a press release. “Designers and many more of us who participate in Miami Fashion Week, now can seek new production partners during the same week in close proximity. ATSM also attracts many more buyers and brands, giving us designers to source and sell.”

Having launched its Miami event in 2018, Apparel Textile Sourcing is planning on doubling the show’s size for its second edition, expanding everything from its exhibitor roster, to its selection of product categories and its seminar schedule.

The new show sections will include a US Producers and Providers Pavilion, which already has more than 15 made-in-US exhibitors confirmed, as well as dedicated sections for footwear and technical textiles. The trade show will also feature live machine demonstrations with a focus on the technical innovations that are helping microbrands to thrive by allowing them to more easily diversify their offering.

Indeed, the trade show is looking to shine a light on microbrands more generally this May, while also homing in on digitally disruptive companies such as Bonobos, Glossier, Everlane and Casper, in order to discuss how these growing trends will change the industry landscape in the future.

As it considers the rapidly evolving textile sourcing sector, the event has split its seminar schedule by theme over each of its three days: day one, for example, will feature government official panels and address trade policy and its effects on the private sector, while day three will focus on business and finance, supply chain strategy and both B2B and B2C e-commerce.

The second day of the event will be dedicated to trend forecasting and will feature a range of creative seminars and a fashion show.

ATSM will take place at the Mana Wynwood Conference Center in Miami from May 28 through 30.

Apparel Textile Sourcing also hosts shows in Toronto and Montreal in August, as well as in Berlin in September.
