Eco-chic Australian eyewear brand Dresden is rapidly expanding in Canada with its third retail location set to open in Toronto on Wednesday.

Following Dresden’s Canadian launch late last year, which included the opening of two retail boutiques in downtown Toronto, Dresden will join about 30 other retailers in Toronto’s new experiential shipping container marketplace, dubbed “Stackt”.

The activation is expected to be open until the end of September and will include other brands like Canadian womenswear brand Ellie Mae and footwear brand House of Hayla.

Dresden, known for its sustainably-made prescription glasses and sunglasses, offers one frame style for both men and women and kids, in sizes ranging from extra small to large, but in over 16 standard hues and hundreds of blended colours.

“We see ourselves as democratizing the eyewear industry. We’re providing accessible eyecare and eyewear around the world with one universal frame. We’re looking forward to sharing our perspective – and our glasses – with Canadians,” explained Bruce Jeffreys, Co-Founder of Dresden, in a news statement.

Founded in Australia in 2014 by Jeffreys and Jason McDermott, the company claims that its zero-waste, closed-loop manufacturing system has resulted in a 99 percent reduction in CO2 emissions, compared with traditional metal-hinged glasses.

Dresden is also currently eyeing other Canadian provinces including British Columbia, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. Additional Ontario locations are equally expected to open, along with locations within the U.S.

Dresden’s current Ontario boutiques are located at 733 Queen St. East in Riverside and 599 College St. in Little Italy.
