Avon launches its first CBD skincare product

Beauty and personal care company Avon announced on Wednesday its entry into the “green space” with the launch of its first CBD skincare product.

Dubbed 'Green Goddess', the product is a clean facial oil infused with CBD. It contains 99 percent natural ingredients including CBD, hemp, sunflower and jojoba seed oils, turmeric and squalene oil.

Designed to help tackle and soothe stressed out skin, Avon noted in a press release that its first CBD offering is sustainably sourced, vegan, fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, and dermatologist-tested.

Cannabis has quickly become a mainstream beauty ingredient.

Avon, who was recently purchased by Brazilian beauty conglomerate Natura & Co, joins a growing list of brands and retailers tapping into the cannabis market including mainstream cosmetics brands such as Milk Makeup, Origins and Kiehl's, which have all tapped into the trend with recent product launches.

Most recently, Urban Outfitters also revealed a distribution deal with High, a skincare brand containing cannabis sativa seed oil, for the retailer to carry two of the brand’s core products in select locations.

Likewise, Selfridges partnered with British CBD body and wellness start-up Grass & Co last year to sell its body products through the luxury department store’s London and Manchester sites.

Avon’s Green Goddess is now available for $50 on avon.com and through any local Avon representative.
