German car manufacturer BMW has inked a five-year licence deal starting on January 1 2020 with Italian eyewear specialist Marcolin, for the design, production and distribution of eyeglasses and sunglasses for the BMW, BMW M and BMW M Motorsport lines.

Marcolin will design and produce BMW eyewear

“We are very excited and proud to be entering this new partnership with BMW, one of the most powerful leaders in the automotive and motorcycle industry,” said Massimo Renon, CEO of the Marcolin group.

“BMW has a strong influence in fashion, with products that are exciting to luxury audiences globally. We believe that the BMW brand, with its solid worldwide presence and innovative fashion design, will fit perfectly within our portfolio. We are confident that this partnership will have great success,” added Renon.

The men’s and unisex eyeglasses and sunglasses models developed by Marcolin for BMW will be distinctive for their dynamic, contemporary style and sophisticated details. BMW M sunglasses are designed for a clientèle looking for performance models with high-tech, hand-crafted details, while the BMW M Motorsport frames are notable for their young, sporty style.

This is an extremely favourable period for Marcolin: at the beginning of October, it signed an agreement with the Swatch Group for the eyewear licence of watch brands Omega and Longines, two weeks after it announced the signing of a deal for the Max&Co. eyewear licence.

Marcolin has a broad portfolio of licensed brands, among them Tom Ford, Moncler, Zegna, Cavalli, Tod's and Emilio Pucci. It closed its most recent financial year with a revenue of €482.2 million, selling approximately 14.6 million pairs of glasses in 2018.
