Balmain unveils collab with Pokémon

Published

As rumors swirl that Balmain may be close to signing a perfume license with Estée Lauder, the Paris house has unveiled its latest collab’ with Pokémon – both physical and digital.

Balmain x Pokemon - DR

It’s a limited-time Balmain  x Pokémon fashion capsule that includes  casual shirts featuring Pikachu, purses and backpacks. Members of the Balmain Army will also be able to acquire a niche selection of Balmain  x Pokémon Trainers, for physical journeys in Pokémon signature comic hues.

“Pokémon’s bright pop aesthetic and captivating creatures have always appealed to me,” said Balmain creative director Olivier Rousteing in a release.

“Today, they make me think of an earlier, simpler time, when we all shared a rosy vision of all the positive changes that we were certain that digital innovations would make possible. And that’s a key reason why I’m so happy to partner with Pokémon on this collection—because, right now, we could all use a reminder of those past moments of hope and optimism,” added Rousteing.

Inspired by Pokémon’s bold colors and bright iconography, Rousteing and his studio have fused the Balmain’s slouched hoodies and sleek sneakers, and its Labyrinth pattern with bold Pokémon graphics.

The collaboration offers an additional, one-of-a-kind ingredient, created in partnership between Balmain and Sharp End. From September 5, 15 distinct Balmain x Pokémon NFC-enabled badges will be available for purchase at nine different Balmain boutiques in America, Europe, and Asia as well as at Balmain’s retail partner Stadium Goods in Chicago. Badges that will permit exclusive access to the Balmain X Pokémon experience, featuring a range of digital content and special prizes, including VIP tickets to the upcoming Balmain Festival during Paris Fashion Week
