Kering has announced the appointment of Bartolomeo Rongone as the new CEO of Italian fashion house Bottega Veneta. Rongone will take over from Claus-Dietrich Lahrs, who joined the label in September 2016.

Lahrs took "a personal decision to leave to get closer to his family and to take on a new entrepreneurial challenge," the group explained in a press release.

Rongone has served at Yves Saint Laurent from 2012, ultimately as head of operations. He previously did an 11-year stint at Fendi, at the label's headquarters in Rome.

François-Henri Pinault commented: “I would like to warmly thank Claus-Dietrich Lahrs for his commitment and his major achievements in nearly three years as head of Bottega Veneta. He made some decisive choices and created a new momentum for the Maison. I wish him the best for his future career.

"I’m delighted by the appointment of Leo Rongone, and appreciate his passion and energy. His knowledge of Luxury and managerial qualities will be decisive in his new role. I am sure he will be able to maintain this latest development phase in the history of Bottega Veneta by drawing on the Maison’s exceptional heritage and the creativity of Daniel Lee.”

The group added that "as CEO of Bottega Veneta, [Rongone's] mission will be to realize the full potential of the new creative force that has been driving the Italian Maison since 2018." He will be a member of the group's executive committee and report to Pinault.

With Daniel Lee at the head of the creative division, Bottega Veneta is aiming to right its ship after several years' of slowing growth, and aims to achieve visible results from the end of this fiscal period. In 2018, the label recorded revenue of €1.109 billion, down 5.7% based on published figures and 3.4% compared to the prior-year period.
