C&A launches home linen range in France

Dutch fashion retailer C&A is launching a home linen line on the French market this autumn. C&A is following in the footsteps of other fashion retailers which introduced a home decoration range, like Cyrillus, Pimkie and Gémo, not to mention the fast-fashion giants H&M and Zara. It is also a way of testing out a more dynamic category than ready-to-wear apparel, at a time when the Dutch group is struggling on the French market. The line was previously only sold in Germany, the Netherlands and Spain.

C&A’s home range features products for the entire home, from the bedroom to the kitchen and bathroom - C&A

The C&A Home range will be available online and at the retailer’s three Parisian branches (Rivoli, Maine-Montparnasse and boulevard Haussmann) from November 14. It consists of bed linen, cushions, bath linen, laundry baskets, tablecloths, throws and home fragrances.

C&A, which was founded in the Netherlands in 1841, is going for an eco-sustainable approach with this line, whose products are 95% made of organic cotton and recycled polyester. The line’s colour palette - grey, powder pink and mustard yellow - and its geometric patterns, echo the highly lucrative trend for Scandinavian-style interiors.

The question is whether this range will be also popular in France. C&A currently operates 160 stores in the country, but nearly a year ago it began to sell off some of them, including a first batch of 13 stores at the end of 2017 and another eight stores last spring.
