As reported by Forbes, the brand’s expansion into footwear will kick off with the launch of the Snow Mantra Boot and the Journey Hiker Boot in November, when they will be made available in 30 of the brand’s stores, as well as on Net-A-Porter.

Priced at $1,295, the Snow Mantra Boot is a comprehensive high-top performance boot, designed to keep wearers warm in extremely low temperatures. The Journey Hiker Boot, which will sell for $750, is made for both hiking and city living.

Both models are completely waterproof and are available in three colorways. Each boot comes with a number of high-tech comfort and performance features, such as the PrimaLoft Gold insulation found in the Snow Mantra model, which can keep feet warm in temperatures as low as -30 C.

The introduction of Canada Goose’s first footwear models is part of its wider “Beyond the Parka” growth strategy, which aims to diversify the company’s offering as it pursues its ongoing development towards becoming a fully-fledged lifestyle brand. The strategy has already seen Canada Goose launch knitwear in 2017 and fleece in 2020.

The company made its first incursion into footwear with the acquisition of Canadian footwear and outerwear brand Baffin in 2018. Although Baffin continues to operate as a standalone company, Canada Goose CEO Dani Reiss told Forbes that he was able to learn a lot about the performance footwear category from the brand.

Going on to discuss the company’s strategy moving forward, Reiss explained, “part of the success of the Canada Goose brand is keeping it pure from the start. We started with the best outerwear and warmest jackets in the world and expanded out from there into other categories, like light-weight down jackets, knitwear and other apparel.”

“With footwear, we are following the same playbook of starting small, taking our time to design the absolutely best product and launching the product in a thoughtful way,” he concluded.
