Carrie Fisher, Debbie Reynolds Hollywood memorabilia to be auctioned

Published
Jun 5, 2017

Hollywood legends Carrie Fisher's and her mother Debbie Reynold's film and fashion memorabilia are set to be auctioned to fans this fall in keeping with Reynolds' wishes.

Profiles in History

Reynolds' son and Fisher's brother, Todd Fisher said, “The size and scope of their collection rivals most museums. So in keeping with my mother’s wishes we have decided to share part of their magnificent collection with all their friends and fans.”

Current items up for bidding will include Reynolds' personal pair of ruby slippers that Dorothy wore in "The Wizard of Oz", stage costumes worn in "Singin' in the Rain" and "Annie Get Your Gun", as well as various iconic Star Wars pieces from Fisher's collection.

The famous mother-and-daughter duo were avid collectors, having amassed over 1,500 pieces of iconic items in film.

Reynolds had long been interested in collecting Hollywood fashion and sharing it with the public. She opened a museum in 1995 to showcase her collection of silver screen pieces, which included Marilyn Monroe's white "Seven Year Itch" dress and Audrey Hepburn's "My Fair Lady" horse race outfit.

Unfortunately, the museum closed and had a series of auctions to sell off some of the famous pieces previously held in the collection.

Proceeds of the current auction will go to two charities, The Thalians and the Jed Foundation. The Thalians is a charity that allows performers to give back to Hollywood, and the Jed Foundation focuses on young adult mental health, two organizations Fisher and Reynolds were involved in throughout their lives.

The auction is slated to begin September 23, 2017. Profiles in History is curating it both at their Calabasas location as well as online.
