Premium sportswear brand Castore is gearing up to open its second retail location amid an ambitious expansion drive.

After opening its debut store in the upscale area of Chelsea in London during October, the Andy Murray-backed brand will open a second space at Liverpool One on 10 April.

This is the city where the company’s headquarters are located, run by brothers Tom and Phil Beahon. “Castore was born in Liverpool and the city holds huge significance in our hearts, so we can’t wait to open this new location and join the brilliant line-up of brands at Liverpool One,” said Tom Beahon.

The 1,579 sq ft store will open at 17/18 Manesty’s Lane, marking the brand’s first step outside the capital. In addition to the London shop, Castore operates an e-commerce site and is available via Matchesfashion, Selfridges and Mr Porter.

The opening is also part of a broader strategy to expand the brand’s reach across geographies and markets. According to media reports, the brand is seeking to enter the professional team sports sector, and in December 2019 it signed a three-year deal with Cricket West Indies.

Additionally, a womenswear line has been added to the range, which will be available alongside men’s apparel at the new Liverpool store.

Commenting on the opening, Alison Clegg, director of asset management at Grosvenor Europe, commented: “Liverpool One has become a beacon for brands venturing outside of the capital due to the destination’s innovative selection of world-class names, and consistently strong footfall figures.

“Castore has become a brand of choice for athletes across the world who demand the very best quality. With its roots firmly in the city, we are sure Castore will be widely welcomed amongst Liverpool One’s catchment.”
