Walle succeeds Laurence Delamare, who has been appointed director of 7L and editorial fashion narration. A highly experienced bilingual executive, Delamare “has contributed to the development of fashion press relations since joining the house in 2004,” Chanel said in an official release.

The Left Bank bookstore 7L is an important cultural institution in Paris, which was opened by Karl Lagerfeld in 1999. Besides specializing in photo and architecture books, 7L was also the location of many of the late great designer’s most famous photo shoots.

Walle first joined Chanel in 2019 to head press relations within its Perfume and Beauty division, where she helped widen the visibility of projects as varied as "Beauty is cultivated" or the 100th anniversary of No. 5, the house’s iconic scent.

“Her expertise will be a major asset in facilitating the community of influencers and dialogue with the press,” added Chanel in its release. Walle’s successor at the beauty division has not been named.

Walle can boast of a long career in media before moving into press and public relations.  Prior to joining Chanel, Walle was editorial manager for Vogue.fr and editor-in-chief of beauty and style for several women's press magazines. She also held various international communications management roles at L'Oréal and Cartier.

The newly promoted Walle will report to Bruno Pavlovsky, president of fashion activities of Chanel and Chanel SAS.

Walle’s promotion comes barely three weeks after the retirement of Marie-Louise de Clermont-Tonnerre, who first created Chanel’s PR department and exited after an exalted half-century career at the famed maison.
