Chloé appoints Gabriela Hearst as creative director

Chloé has appointed a new creative director. Last week, the Parisian label officially announced the departure of Natacha Ramsay-Levi after a four-year collaboration, and has now made official the appointment of Gabriela Hearst to replace her.

“I’m very happy to welcome Gabriela Hearst to our label,” said Riccardo Bellini, CEO of Chloé, cited in a press release. “I’ve always admired her creative energy and her fondness of exceptional craftsmanship. Her powerful vision for a more sustainable fashion fully embodies the values and commitment which define contemporary Chloé women. Gabriela is a visionary lady, and her creative talent will be a major asset in evolving and developing the vision of energetic, inspired femininity that is so dear to our founder. We share the belief that it is our duty to participate actively in shaping an eco-responsible future, and to lead Chloé towards new achievements."

Chloé has underlined that Hearst, winner of the Woolmark Prize in 2017, is the first designer with a multicultural heritage - part Uruguayan, part American - to take charge of style at the Parisian label.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity of joining such a revered label,” said Hearst, adding “I would like to thank Natacha Ramsay-Levi and all the talented designers who have helped shape the committed vision of Gaby Aghion. I’m looking forward to working with Riccardo Bellini and to helping him fulfil his pledge of creating an ethical, environmentally sustainable company. I’m honoured for being able to perpetuate this vision together with Chloé’s staff, both creatively and ethically.”

Hearst is starting in her new role on December 7, and will continue to work in parallel on the collections for her eponymous label.
