Christian Lacroix x Desigual: everyday life blooms with bright flowers

Renowned French couturier Christian Lacroix has designed an ultra-colourful capsule collection for Desigual, putting the emphasis on floral motifs. An injection of energy and optimism with trendy tropical tropes, providing a mood boost and a dose of good cheer as summer draws near, all available online on Desigual.com.

Collaborations abound in the world of fashion, but enduring ones are increasingly rare. For nine years now, Christian Lacroix has been infusing his unique style, a blend of baroque influences, vibrant colours and an off-beat vibe, into the creations of Spanish ready-to-wear label Desigual. The partnership continues with the Spring/Summer 2020 season, featuring maxi floral motifs and other tropical patterns borrowed from Bali's jungle landscape.

With the new capsule collection, Lacroix celebrates the wild natural habitat with oversize, uber-colourful prints whose designs portray the jungle’s flora and fauna. All of them applied to a selection of loosely styled, mostly lightweight clothes, ideal for day and evening wear. 

“I was born in the south of France, and I think of myself as a man of the Mediterranean, of the south. I always knew one day I’d make my living with [Mediterranean] motifs. Desigual invited me to Barcelona and I fell for its charm. It was head-over-heels love at first sight. We have a lot in common, especially the palette of patterns, prints and colours. We’re not trying to create trends, we’re not here to design it bags, we’re close to people,” said Lacroix about his partnership with Desigual.

The new collection's signature item is an ankle-length maxi dress in an all-over floral print, enhanced by sheer and tulle inserts. Other items include shirts, skirts, ample trousers, silk and viscose blouses and jumpsuits. The collection is available on Desigual’s e-shop.
