The British Fashion Council (BFC) and Clearpay, a leader in ‘buy now pay later’ services, have launched their collaborative initiative, The Clearpay Collective, to shape the future of fashion. It will produce exclusive fashion designs, unique shopping experiences, shoppable showcases and designer-led content, to celebrate London Fashion Week this September.

The designers unveiled as part of the Collective are two London-based womenswear labels, Halpern and KNWLS, with more designers expected to join in the future. They will work with Clearpay and the BFC to offer accessible fashion experiences during LFW, the two companies said in a joint statement.

The partnership with Clearpay will provide the Collective with a bigger platform and line of communication with existing shoppers, but will also enable them to reach new consumers, for those with an e-commerce platform, with direct access to Clearpay’s two million active customers in the UK via its Shop Directory. The reach Clearpay enables for these brands equates to approximately 8,000 times a designer’s average show capacity, thus generating more exposure and increased revenue opportunity for each designer.

Alongside the launch of The Clearpay Collective, the BFC revealed its provisional schedule for London Fashion Week, with over 100 designers taking part in the event. Following three digital seasons, London Fashion Week September 2021 will be a physical-digital hybrid event, marking a long-awaited cultural reopening of London. Known for its creativity and innovation, LFW will curate excellence and empower growth, while also focusing on the joy of clothing, through the lens of responsibility.

Caroline Rush, BFC chief executive, said: “We are delighted to bring back a physical element to London Fashion Week this September. There is a fantastic sense of excitement as London comes back to life and London Fashion Week will be the moment to celebrate our extraordinary city and its creative talent. The Clearpay Collective is testament to this creativity, and we look forward to working with Clearpay to support exciting British brands and helping them reach new audiences.”

Nick Molnar, co-founder and co-CEO of Clearpay, added: “The introduction of the Collective further represents Clearpay’s commitment to championing British fashion talent, supporting the global retail industry whilst giving consumers more access to the fashion brands that they love. We are thrilled to be working with such a diverse and talented mix of designers and we’re incredibly excited for what’s to come as we continue our partnership with the British Fashion Council.”

Further details on The Clearpay Collective will be announced in the run up to London Fashion Week, which takes place from September 17-21.
