Cole Haan opens new Grandshop in Harajuku's Cat Street

American lifestyle and accessories brand Cole Haan has opened a new Grandshop—the concept shop model dedicated to the brand's Zerogrand line—on Cat Street in Harajuku, Tokyo. 

The two-story, over 1,776 square-foot store serves as the brand's flagship in the popular shopping area and marks the brand's third Grandshop in Japan. 

The new location will offer a variety of footwear and performance lifestyle products, including Zerogrand shoes—the brand's line of shoes built to mix Cole Haan's high-end aesthetic with extremely lightweight design. 

To promote the opening, the latest Grandshop will carry exclusive, limited-edition Cole Haan x Hasan Minhaj GrandPro Rally Court Sneakers created in collaboration with comedian Hasan Minhaj.

"The Cole Haan brand has been growing internationally for the past several years, and is now sold in more than 60 countries," said David Maddocks, brand president of Cole Haan.

"Yet Japan holds a special place for the Cole Haan brand as we've been there for more than a quarter century. It only made sense to bring our most innovative retail concept to one of the most iconic shopping destinations in the world—Harajuku district's Cat Street in the heart of Tokyo. The Grandshop showcases our revolutionary collection of innovative performance lifestyle products."

To echo the Zerogrand line's emphasis on futuristic construction, the store's design features several high-tech decorative elements, including a second-floor window integrated with a transparent LED screen, two screens highlighting Cole Haan innovations, and QR codes throughout the store.

Behind a stone staircase inside the store, a double height wall of over 16 feet will serve as a canvas to celebrate emerging artists. The first artwork to be shown on the wall will be a floor-to-ceiling version of Lauren Tsai's #WriteNewRules poster.

The Grandshop Cat Street is located at 6-1-2 Jingumae Shibuya-ku Tokyo, Japan and will be open to the public starting December 4. 

Cole Haan opened its first Grandshop at Westfield Valley Mall in Santa Clara, California in March of this year.
