Could Forever 21 be leaving France?

Forever 21 opened its doors in France in 2012 but has greatly reduced its footprint in the country in recent months as it has decided to close three of its four stores in the country after having closed two other stores previously in 2016. According to Business Immo, the fast fashion chain aims to cease all business activities in France.

However, when contacted, the brand’s head did not respond to FashionNetwork.com’s inquiry.

Since summer 2018, Forever 21 has ceased trading at its Cagnes-sur-Mer store in Polygone Riviera and its Tremblay-en-France store. FashionNetwork.com learned that the store, run by Unibail-Rodamko, at the Forum des Halles in Paris, will close at the end of the month.

The employees of the Forum des Halles store will have their employment contracts transferred to the brand’s sole remaining point of sale in France, the flagship store on the Rue de Rivoli. However, will this store remain open as the only Forever 21 store in the country?

Forever 21 is winding down its presence in Europe, having left Ireland in early 2018 closing its Dublin store, but is expanding in Uruguay, Mexico, and India. A complete departure from France was feared in 2016 when the brand, founded in 1984 in Los Angeles, closed two stores in Rosny 2 and Vélizy 2.

The womenswear, menswear, and children’s wear brand currently has a network of around 600 stores but does not disclose its income total. According to Forbes, the business generates around $3.4 billion in annual revenue.
