David Yurman launches first holiday chatbot on Facebook Messenger

David Yurman on Friday announced the launch of its first Gifting Bot on Facebook Messenger for the holiday season.

 
The American jewelry company joins a number of brands and retailers to launch chatbot services, including Nordstrom and American Eagle, for the holiday season in 2016; not forgetting Tommy Hilfiger, which launched the first video chatbot; and Alexander Wang, which sold its Adidas collaboration collection via a text message chatbot.
 
The David Yurman Gifting Bot allows customers to shop gift guides through the Facebook Messenger interface and select gifts for men and women or themselves. In addition, customers can locate nearby David Yurman stores and contact customer care specialists.

The launch of the Gifting Bot comes as a surprise, considering that a report by GPShopper found that customers do not favor chatbots as much as they favor self-checkout and VR technology, but it continues to be a trend among brands and retailers as seen with recent adopter David Yurman and the recent launch of M&S’ chatbot for the holiday season.
