Denim Première Vision launched its first Berlin edition at the Arena Berlin on May 17, after being delayed for nearly one-and-a-half yearsThe trade fair's first day generated great dynamism among the visitors and 80 exhibitors present.

The first Denim Première Vision show in Berlin was originally scheduled to be held in November 2020, but had to be postponed due to the pandemic.

The trade fair, a lot smaller than previous editions held in Paris or Milan, took place for over two days in a pavilion next to the Spree river, where suppliers, weavers, spinners, dyers and finishers presented their latest products for the Fall/Winter 2023-24 season.

From 10 am, industry professionals were greeted by a welcoming team wearing denim overalls designed by Berlin-based designer Andrea Bonfini for his brand Fade Out Label. One hour after the opening, the stands of the exhibiting brands, including Isko, Advance Denim, Bossa, KMT, Kassim Denim, Chottani, and Callim Denim, were already very busy and the number of attendees only increased by noon.

"It's the first time in a long time that we've participated in a trade show," Keith O’Brien, senior public relations director at Turkish denim brand Isko, told FashionNetwork.com. "We didn't have high expectations beforehand, we were just happy to be able to present our innovations and interact with the denim community face-to-face after a long time. While we do see individual customers on a regular basis, it's still special to meet in a setting like this."

Junaid Mushtag, brand manager at the Pakistani brand Kassim Denim, was delighted to be physically present once again at an event of this scale.

"We are happy to be finally back in direct contact with our customers," said the representative on Tuesday. "Before the pandemic, we would meet them every month and exchange ideas. For a long time, this could only be done digitally."

The show also broadcasts Digital Denim Week, which is held at the same time - Isabel Leonhardt

Virtual exchanges had of course several advantages during the pandemic, particularly in terms of logistics, but when FashionNetwork.com spoke to companies, whether they came from Turkey, Italy, China, Japan, Pakistan or Bangladesh, they all appreciated the face-to-face interactions and opportunities that only a physical event can provide.

In parallel with the Berlin edition, Denim Première Vision is holding Digital Denim Week from May 16 to 20. Two of the digital talks of the latter were broadcasted on a screen on Tuesday during Denim Première Vision in the 'Trends Agora' area located in the center of the venue. Manon Mangin, denim fashion specialist at Première Vision, and Marina Coutelan, environmentally conscious fashion consultant, spoke about the latest sustainable developments for the Fall/Winter 2023-24 season.

Another talk served as an opportunity to discuss traceability and environmentally responsible denim. These discussions were complemented by a seminar given by Mangin on the coming season's trends.

As a special highlight for this edition, the organizers announced in advance a new space coined ‘Fashion District’, a pop-up distributed between the stands.

For the first time, Denim Première Vision presented 10 ready-to-wear and accessories brands specializing in denim.

The capsule collections were produced with the materials and know-how of the show’s denim exhibitors and presented by each brand at their stands alongside products from their current collections. The participating labels for this collaboration included Denzilpatrick, Von Dutch, Fade Out Label, Peppino, Blue Of A Kind, Gimmi Jeans, Milena Andrade, Braves & Company, Jonathan Christopher and A New Kind Of Blue.

The next edition of Denim Première Vision will be held in Milan on November 23 and 24.
