Doutzen Kroes, Natasha Poly and Isabeli Fontana are glamorous and strong in Balmain SS17 campaign

The Balmain fashion house has unveiled the first shots from its spring/summer 2017 campaign, starring several model recruits from the now famous "Balmain Army." Natasha Poly, Doutzen Kroes and Isabeli Fontana.

A single road in a barren desert hints at civilization in this new campaign backdrop picked by Olivier Rousteing. While the warrior spirit that underscored previous campaigns appears to have been toned down a little, this season's stars are still proud conquerors, glamourous yet strong, striding confidently as they showcase the label's newcollection.

Doutzen Kroes, Natasha Poly and Isabeli Fontana all starred in the SS17 runway show. The three female stars are joined by Spanish model Jon Kortajarena and Canadian model Gabriel Aubry, who also feature in a black and white menswear-only shot with Tony Ward.

The campaign photos highlight two distinct lines within the Balmain collection. On the one hand, the label's Amazon warriors can been seen adorned in floaty, fluid, semi-sheer attire in shades of khaki and saffron. On the other hand, the collection's metallic creations shimmer and shine with gold and silver, for a sexier and more glamorous style.

The campaign was shot by American fashion photographer Steven Klein, who previously shot the fall/winter 2016-2017 campaign starring Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Alessandra Ambrosio, Sasha Luss, Dilone, Joan Smalls and Jourdan Dunn.
