The Covid-19 crisis is not slowing down Rei Kawakubo and her husband Adrian Joffe, who are preparing to open their second multi-brand Dover Street Market store in Paris. Rumours about the launch had been circulating for some time and the business has confirmed the project to us. The new store will open its doors in 2021, inaugurating a new format for this innovative brand.

Following the inauguration of its first Paris store last year, dedicated to beauty and located in the city’s Marais district, Dover Street Market is planning another launch in the French capital; this time an offering dedicated to emerging young designers. The 30 square-metre store is located at the Comme des Garçons ‘Trading Museum’ at number 54 on the boulevard Faubourg Saint-Honoré in an annex located at the courtyard-side at the back left side of the store. The new space will be named ‘Dover Street Trading Market’.

The multi-brand store concept from Comme des Garçons is known for offering a well-curated selection of young designers and more established luxury brands. The new concept will be exclusively dedicated to the influential Kawakubo and Dover Street Market CEO Joffe’s young prodigies and will highlight several labels, which the duo produces and distributes.

Among the brands, which will have been selected by the time the store opens, a notable name is ERL. The brand was launched by Californian photographer, designer, and creative director Eli Russell Linnetz, who has collaborated with Kanye West and Lady Gaga, among others. Another brand that will feature in-store is Honey F--King Dijon, a project by Berlin-based, American DJ, Honey Dijon.

Dover Street Market was established in Tokyo in 2004. Today, the brand counts seven stores across London, New York, Tokyo, Singapore, Beijing, Los Angeles, and Paris and its upcoming launch will take its total to eight.
