Eugenia de la Torriente's latest endeavor lasted just under two years. Having become deputy director of El País, owned by the Grupo Prisa, in January 2021, the journalist was in charge of the promotion and coordination of the publications El País Semanal, Icon, SModa, as well as the culture sections and the Babelia supplement. This was the last venture in journalism for the former director of Vogue Spain, where she worked from 2017 to 2020 before becoming the Puig group's director of communications on October 1.

In her newly created position of "chief communications officer", De la Torriente will report directly to the company's executive president, Marc Puig, and will be in charge of internal and external communications. With a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona, the newly appointed executive boasts a long career in the fashion industry, including the role of editor-in-chief of the Spanish edition of Harper's Bazaar before heading to Vogue Spain. In 2014, the journalist published the book "Puig, 100 años de una empresa familiar" (Puig, 100 years of a family business), together with book publisher Assouline.

"Eugenia is bringing her 24 years of experience in journalism, image creation, strategy and communications, as well as a keen ability for managing teams and leading creative projects with a business focus on all types of platforms and channels," said Puig in a statement.

For her part, De la Torriente stressed how proud she is to join "a family project that for more than 100 years has given priority to creativity and responsibility", saying that Puig is "a story of passion and innovation and being part of this legacy is an exciting professional challenge".

Founded in 1914, Puig is a family-owned company that operates through a wide portfolio of fashion and beauty brands, such as Carolina Herrera, Paco Rabanne, Jean Paul Gaultier, Dries Van Noten, Nina Ricci, Penhaligon's, L'Artisan Parfumeur, Charlotte Tilbury and the recently acquired brands Byredo, Loto del Sur and Kama Ayurveda. The company also has licenses of Christian Louboutin and Comme des Garçons Parfums, as well as the lifestyle fragrances of Antonio Banderas, Adolfo Dominguez and Benetton.

In FY 2021, the company increased its turnover by 27% compared to 2019 to €2.58 billion. Present in 150 countries with offices in 29 of them, Puig is expecting to close 2022 with sales of €3 billion and Ebitda of €500 million.
