Effective January 1, 2022, as O’Donnell steps in as CEO, Everlane’s founder Michael Preysman will step down from the CEO role and is expected to become executive chair while taking on a sustainability-focused role.

O’Donnell joins Everlane from Deckers Brands, where she is credited for transforming Ugg into a fashion brand through high-profile campaigns and collaborations, such as its recent team-up with Telfar. Before Decker, O’Donnell held various positions at retail brands such as Lane Crawford and John Lewis.

Starting Oct. 6, O’Donnell will join the business to aid with the transition, alongside Preysman through the rest of the year.

Earlier this year, Everlane made other leadership appointments including naming Nike vet Sophie Bambuck as the company’s first chief marketing officer. Additionally, Matt Gehring, previously senior vice president of growth at Rothy’s, was appointed to the role of general manager of e-commerce.

Everlane was founded as an online business promising ethical clothing with transparent pricing in 2010, though the brand has been named a sustainability “offender” by the Remake fashion advocacy organization, for transparency and worker well-being issues.

Everlane currently operates brick-and-mortar locations in New York, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Boston and Austin, Texas, as well as in its hometown of San Francisco.
