British online retailer The Hut Group has opened the doors of a new 800,000 sq ft fulfilment and manufacturing facility in Wroclaw, Poland, that will serve the "crucial" German and Central European markets.

It is the first project in Poland for the group, whose growing portfolio of brands includes beauty names such as Lookfantastic, Illamasqua and Glossybox, and accessories brands including Coggles and The Hut.

The site joins an existing centre in Berlin, helping the company increase its fast delivery capabilities in mainland Europe.

When announcing the new facility earlier this year, Matthew Moulding, founder and chief executive, said: "We chose Wrocław as the location for our new facility for a number of reasons: the city's excellent road infrastructure and flight connections with the UK, its proximity to the crucial German and Central European customer base, as well as the excellent pool of employees from Lower Silesia.

"Alongside our European hub in Berlin, it offers a strong presence from which to serve our European customers faster."

The Polish facility is located in close proximity to Wroclaw on the S8 expressway, providing easy access to major metropolitan areas in Poland, Germany and the Czech Republic.

The Hut Group has sold and distributed products to Europe for a number of years, where it has almost 300 million online customers.

The expanding group has also recently announced plans to build a major business hub at Manchester Airport, the largest ever office project by a company in the North West.
