G-Star recruits Creative Director from Havas Worldwide

The Dutch press announced that Peter Hamelinck has been named Creative Director at G-Star. Inside sources at the Dutch Jeanswear brand have confirmed the news. Hamelinck has many awards to his name, notably the Cannes Lion award which he received in 2012.

After spending two years as Creative Director at Havas Amsterdam, Peter Hamelinck is now stepping into the fashion industry with star photographer comrade Anton Corbijin at his side. In an interview earlier this week with Adformatie, Hamelinck said that he would be working closely with the brand’s Strategic Director Thède Schaeffer and will report to CEO and founder Jos Van Tilburg.

The position is of great importance to G-Star, who is looking to reinvent its image, making it more feminine. 43-year-old Peter Hamelinck will be overseeing publicity campaigns, PR and keeping an eye on the brand’s social media usage.
