Greenshowroom and Ethical Fashion Show move to Kraftwerk Berlin venue

Berlin-based sustainable fashion trade shows Greenshowroom and Ethical Fashion Show are moving again. From last season, they were held at the German capital's Funkhaus venue, but their next winter edition, scheduled on 16th-18th January 2018, has found a new home in the city centre's Mitte neighbourhood: Kraftwerk Berlin, an old power station redeveloped as an event venue. Behind the move, the fact that show organiser Messe Frankfurt's two sustainable fashion events are forging increasingly closer ties with the Premium show.

The two shows will be held at an old power station in Berlin's Mitte area - Kraftwerk Berlin

"We are moving our two events to a venue at the crossroads of the Berlin fashion show week, to make them even more easily accessible. It was something our exhibitors and visitors have asked frequently," said Olaf Schmidt, Vice-President in charge of textile fabrics and technology at trade show organiser Messe Frankfurt.

At the same time, Messe Frankfurt is strengthening its ties with the Premium group, thanks to the #Fashiontech event, which will also be held at Kraftwerk in the future, and intends to launch a new conference labelled 'FashionSustain'. The two German show organisers share a common vision on issues relating to the future and sustainability of fashion, and want to join forces to become a major player in the industry.

At next January’s two ethical fashion shows, buyers will discover the latest trends in contemporary fashion and streetwear, with a manufacturing focus on sustainability, on the ground and first floor of the Kraftwerk venue, while on the second floor, Messe Frankfurt will organise a substantial programme of conferences.

The move to the Köpenicker Straße venue in Berlin's Mitte district also has the advantage of considerably shortening journey times for exhibitors and visitors: Greenshowroom and Ethical Fashion Show Berlin will be on the same route to the Premium show, held in Gleisdreieck, and to the Bright and Seek shows, scheduled at the Arena Berlin. The new venue will be more speedily and easily accessible also thanks to the official shuttle service for the Berlin fashion show week.

The Kraftwerk power station was built between 1960 and 1964, and served the entire neighbourhood. After lying empty for a long time, in 2006 cultural event organiser Dietmar-Maria Hegemann opened up part of the building to the famous Tresor electro-pop music club. In recent years, the building was enlarged and further renovated, and now acts as event venue.
