Spanish group Inditex has named Javier Eguirón, who has been serving as managing director of Zara in Belgium and Luxembourg for the past four years, as the new chief financial officer of Stradivarius.

Eguirón started his career in the consulting sector before joining Inditex’s London headquarters in 2011. He moved to the retailer’s office in Brussels in 2013, becoming deputy managing director in the Benelux area, overseeing the Massimo Dutti, Bershka, Pull and Bear and Zara Home brands in Belgium and Luxembourg. In 2015, he was promoted to managing director of the group’s flagship brand in the same area.

According to his LinkedIn page, Javier Eguirón took over as CFO of Stradivarius in May. He is now based in Barcelona and will report directly to the brand’s CEO Jordi Triquell. Eguirón replaces Beltrán Espinosa de los Monteros, who has spent 14 years at Amancio Ortega’s group and had held the role since 2013. It is not known whether he has left the company or moved to another role.

Eguirón’s appointment is the latest senior move at the brand acquired by Inditex in 1999. In January this year, Sergio Odriozola stepped down from his position as buying director after only eight months at the brand.

Stradivarius is Inditex’s fifth largest brand in terms of sales volume, ahead of Oysho and Uterqüe. Last year it generated 1.53 billion euros in revenues. Still, its contribution to group revenues is still rather small, considering that Inditex reported 26.14 billion euros last year. The group increased its total sales area by 3% to 333,279 square metres in 2018, and now has 1,011 stores worldwide, including 809 stores and 202 franchises.
