Ken Downing to say goodbye to Neiman Marcus
Mar 23, 2019
Ken Downing is departing from his role as senior vice president and fashion director of Neiman Marcus after a 28 year career with the Dallas-based retailer, with his last day scheduled for March 29.
A regular front-row presence at fashion weeks in New York and abroad, and a celebrated aesthete for his personal style, Downing worked to bring up-to-date trends and unique partnerships to Neiman Marcus. In addition to his good taste, Downing is known for his long list of industry connections, having rubbed elbows with everyone from Anna Wintour to Rihanna.
Downing first joined the retailer in 1990, and served in a variety of roles before rising to his current position. Recently, the executive hosted a panel discussion alongside designer Zac Posen at the newly opened Neiman Marcus store at Hudson Yards, the retailer's first Manhattan location.
"It has been a monumental experience being part of Neiman Marcus for so many years," Downing said in an official statement given to FashionNetwork.com. "The invaluable relationships I've forged with colleagues, brand partners and certainly my customers will always be something I cherish personally and professionally. As I take on the next chapter in an industry I have been proud to be a part of, I look forward to new challenges and experiences."
This marks yet another major executive departure from Neiman Marcus following the exit of Chief Merchandising Officer Jim Gold, whose departure was announced in January.
Downing's replacement is yet to be announced.
