Kim Kardashian's kids label accused of copying Vetements and Comme des Garçons

Kim Kardashian's Kids Supply clothing line has been accused of copying a Vetements dress that was custom made for Kardashian's daughter North, as well as a limited edition Comme des Garçons x Kosho & Co bomber jacket.

The copies were noticed and published by the Instagram account Diet Prada which routinely posts pictures of fashion knockoffs. Diet Prada posted a graphic that said "Kim des Garçons" and called out Kardashian for knocking off original designs the celebrity had had made for herself.

Interestingly, Kardashian's Kids Supply is not denying that it copied the pieces. A spokesperson for Kids Supply called the styles an "homage" to Vetements and Comme des Garçons' designs.

Indeed, the brand even went so far as to name the bomber the "Rei" jacket after CDG's founder Rei Kawakubo, and the "Demna" dress after Vetements' founder Demna Gvasalia. Kids Supply has stood its ground about the kid-sized copies, claiming they have been named after the founders of the labels out of "utmost respect."

In a move likely made to avoid copyright litigation, Kids Supply has announced it will be donating 100 percent of profits from the sale of these two pieces to the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles and added the same information to its website. If the fashion houses can't prove a loss of profit due to the copies, a potential copyright lawsuit will lose steam.

The Rei bomber is available for sale on the Kids Supply website for $250. The silver sequin Demna dress is currently sold out. Customers can add their email for updates, suggesting the dress was not made in a limited quantity and that more might be available in the future.
