Larry Meyer named CEO of Uniqlo USA

After arriving at the company as chief operating officer in January 2013, Larry Meyer has been named CEO of Uniqlo USA, effective January 1st.

Prior to joining Uniqlo, Meyer held the position of executive VP at Forever 21 and CFO at children’s retailer Gymboree. In his new role, Meyer will oversee the day-to-day operations of Uniqlo and hold responsibility for the ongoing development of the company’s retail footprint in the USA.

“Larry’s steadfast leadership has been a tremendous asset to the company and a key component to our successful growth this year. Building a U.S.-based executive team is a very important step in the next phase of our expansion in the United States, and his promotion is a logical step,” said Tadashi Yanai, chairman, president and CEO of Fast Retailing, Uniqlo’s parent company.

Uniqlo recently opened 10 stores stateside, including addresses in New York, New Jersey and San Francisco and operates a total of 17 stores in the in the country as well as an online shop. The company’s objective is to expand its network to 200 U.S. stores before 2020.
