London most talked about travel destination with more to come

London is the most talked about travel destination on Twitter, according to data from London & Partners, the Mayor of London’s promotional company, and Spredfast.

The words ‘London’ and ‘travel’ were tweeted together more than 630,000 times in 2015. That was 200,000 times more than other popular city counterparts including Paris, New York, Rome and Tokyo.
 
Some of the other words most commonly tweeted in association with London were ‘art’ and ‘fashion.’

The data coincides with the launch of 'Fans of London' a campaign from VisitLondon.com. The campaign is to celebrate the blockbuster events and anniversaries across London this year, including he Queen’s 90th Birthday, Shakespeare 400, and the world’s first Rolling Stones exhibition.
 
“Fans of London features something for all”, Chris Gottlieb, Chief Marketing Officer for London & Partners, said in a news statement. “We wanted to shine a spotlight on the unmissable events happening across the city this year, attracting new international audiences to experience and share the very best that London has to offer.”
