Louis Vuitton reimagines Monogram

Published
Jun 4, 2014

As part of the project “Icons & Iconoclasts”, Delphine Arnault, deputy general manager of Louis Vuitton, and Nicolas Ghesquière, creative director of womenswear collections, gave a carte blanche to 6 big names in fashion and design to create a limited edition collection of bags and luggage.

The original Monogram

Those called to take part include designers Christian Louboutin, Karl Lagerfeld, Rei Kawakubo, Marc Newson, the architect Frank Gehry and the photographer Cindy Sherman - all tasked with dreaming up a handbag or piece of luggage using the label’s Monogram print. The collection will be put on sale in select Louis Vuitton stores beginning in mid-October and the "Icon & Iconoclasts " launch party will be held in New York on November 7.

To accompany the collection, the company has launched the site icon.louisvuitton.com, and designated #CelebratingMonogram as its official hashtag.
