Mango to build a Mango City

Published
Feb 8, 2011

In Spain, Mango is making a start on a large-scale project. The Catalan brand has begun building Mango City in Lliça d’Amunt, a district to the north of Barcelona. Already home to the company’s headquarters, Lliça d’Amunt will also welcome Mango’s new distribution facility. The project is going to take another 5 years to complete, with construction works about to start mid-February.

The centre will consist of a total area of 330,000 square metres, where 280,000 will be for the company, 60,000 for the service sector (offices, hotels, cinemas, etc) and the remaining 10,000 for and outlet area dedicated to other brands. The whole project, which began 10 years ago, is going to cost 360 million euros. This is a new step for the Mango group, which had already invested nearly 45 million euros on another distribution centre of 24,000 square meters that opened in November 2008.

The new facility will allow Mango to deliver its products around the whole world, expect for China where the brand already makes use of a local centre. Today, Mango consists of over 1,700 boutiques in 102 countries and it is the second largest fashion exporter in Spain.
