Marc O’Polo entrusts accessories to Liebeskind founders

Marc O’Polo wants to breathe new life into its accessories range. The German mixed casual brand, originally from Scandinavia, has announced an agreement with the founders of Liebeskind, a successful handbag label which was acquired by S. Oliver in 2010. Liebeskind's founders, who left the company in 2014, were looking for a new, high-profile challenge.

Johannes Rellecke and Karl-Heinz Lauterbach

As a result, Marc O'Polo has divided the footwear and accessories business. The new entity dedicated to luggage, small leather goods and accessories is now partially owned by Liebeskind's three founders, the Rellecke brothers and Semih Simsek.

Marc O'Polo Accessories is based in Düsseldorf, Germany, and its general managers are Karl-Heinz Lauterbach, formerly in charge of Marc O'Polo Shoes and Accessories, and Johannes Rellecke, who takes control of marketing and distribution. His brother will supervise design and Semih Simsek will be in charge of production and sourcing.

Little was said on figures, since the Bavarian company is generally close-mouthed about them. In the 2014-15 fiscal year, closed on 31st May, the company's revenue grew 5.4%. The brand's sales (including Campus, swimwear licences, eyewear, home decoration, costume jewellery, children's, socks and underwear) reached €464 million.
