Yoox Net-A-Porter has named a new CEO with Geoffroy Lefebvre, currently Group Digital Distribution Director at parent company Richemont, taking the helm on January 4.

He’ll take over from Yoox founder Federico Marchetti who “will remain Chairman of the group to ensure a successful transition”.

Richemont chief Johann Rupert hailed the outgoing CEO as “a visionary entrepreneur” and thanked him for “his relentless passion, his energy and his drive in shaping the largest player in Luxury Selective Distribution”.

He also said praised the new head of the giant YNAP operation and explained that he “has been driving the expansion of Richemont’s e-commerce for the past two years after several other executive positions within the group”.

Meanwhile, Marchetti said he’s worked with Lefebvre “and he fully masters our business model. In our 20th anniversary year, it is a fitting moment to kick-start the handover and I look forward to working with him as Chairman during the transition period”.

It’s certainly a big job that he’s taking on. In two decades, during which time it pioneered both full-price and outlet luxury e-tail, YNAP has grown from start-up status when Yoox and Net-A-Porter were unconnected, independent companies, “to be the biggest player in high-end fashion e-commerce”.

Marchetti said that “as an entrepreneur I am proud to have created a tech unicorn and built a digital powerhouse. The group has solid foundations, which will propel it towards long-term growth”.
