Marimekko's Mansur Gavriel collab to debut in June

Published
Apr 27, 2022

Textile and print specialist Marimekko has linked up with luxury bag label Mansur Gavriel for a limited-edition capsule collection combining the latter’s “quality craftsmanship” and Marimekko’s art of printmaking.

Marimekko x Mansur Gavriel

It draws inspiration from “art, as well as nature’s shapes and forms” and merges some of the label’s best-known bag styles (the tote and the bucket bag) with two bold Marimekko prints designed by Maija Isola and Annika Rimala in the 1960s.

The fabrics have been printed at Marimekko’s own textile printing factory in Helsinki, Finland, and the bags have been manufactured in a small family-run factory in Italy.

The collection is described as “a true celebration of the optimistic lifestyle both brands represent. Playful, joyful and creative”. It also aims to offer “the perfect long-lasting summer staples for life in the city and beyond”.

Launching on 7 June, it will be available via mansurgavriel.com, at selected Mansur Gavriel e-tailers and retailers around the world, with Marimekko highlighting that the launch would help it to increase its international brand awareness. And of course, it’s also set to be available via the Finnish firm’s own webstore marimekko.com, plus its stores and stockists.

Marimekko Creative Director Rebecca Bay said the opportunity to collaborate with Mansur Gavriel “felt really natural: together, we share an enthusiasm for art and the surrounding nature, and of course a love of colours and shapes”.
