"Regeneration" was the key word Thursday at Milan Fashion Week, where Massimo Giorgetti unveiled his debut collection for the Florentine house of Emilio Pucci.

The MSGM designer's vision of Spring/Summer 2016 was a very different Pucci than that of his predecessor Peter Dundas, with a young, curr

Shells, corals and starfish covered everything from fishnet tops and trousers to lace-lined slip dresses. There were knotted dresses, marina stripes, and sparkly crop tops swimming with fish. The seabed was also suggested in the kaleidoscopic coral reef tones of a sweater and the feathers that wafted around the straps of the sandals, in somber midnight hues and soft pinks and yellows.

The playful ambience was exaggerated by the fact that some of the models wore large Technicolor swimming goggles and by the ties that dangled loosely from waistlines and tops. The current trend for studding was replicated using pearls, which tied in with the oceanic theme but also kept things pretty, while pleated chiffon added to the lightness of the overall effect.

In keeping with the light aesthetic there was lots of white, accented with aqua blues, turquoises, purples, pinks and acid greens. A black dress that formed the background for a shoal of vivid sea creatures offered a more glamorous evening look. There were also moments of crispness, with a deep blue, floor-length trench coat draped over a satin dress in a show of color blocking that proved that Giorgetti's Pucci woman can do both light-hearted streetwear and casual composure.
