He’ll be “working to rebuild the Matches customer experience, widening the audience including digital marketing, acquisition, retention and engagement”.

He’s led product management and engineering functions in fashion e-commerce for the last 20 years, latterly at ASOS and previously at Italy-based Yoox, with Matches saying he’s also “a leader in mobile e-commerce”.

As evidence for that statement it pointed to him having developed the first mobile website and native apps for ASOS back in 2011, growing its user base from zero to 30 million users by 2021.

He became Chief Product Officer in 2018 and mobile revenue has become 80% of the business’s revenue, rising to £3 billion.

Beighton called him “a fantastic addition to our executive leadership team and his expertise in building customer facing digital retail and websites is unrivalled. We remain focused on our ambition to be THE luxury destination for customers in the world. Andrea brings a depth of experience and leadership that will be invaluable as we enter our next phase of growth”.
