Matchesfashion names Stuart Hill as COO

Published
Jul 19, 2022

It’s all change at Matchesfashion with the online luxury retailer having recently named its new CEO and on Tuesday unveiling Stuart Hill as its new COO.

Matchesfashion's Raey brand

He joins from rival Farfetch, where he served as senior vice-president of logistics for four years. He starts in September.

Importantly, incoming CEO Nick Beighton had previously worked with him at ASOS, so we should expect a good working relationship from day one between the two crucial business leaders.

The company cited his 25 years of experience in senior logistics positions within fashion, retail, and logistics firms. As well as Farfetch, as mentioned, he worked closely with Beighton at ASOS and he has also worked at John Lewis.

It added that “as an entrepreneur, he also founded a number of successful logistics companies, including wnDirect and Lorry Route, the latter where he remains as chairman”.

In his most recent job at Farfetch, he was part of the global leadership team, reporting to the company’s COO. His role saw him “set and define global operational and logistical strategy for the business and champion key customer experience improvements”.

Hill said he’s looking forward to joining the firm that’s soon to be run by his “former boss and mentor, and taking the business’s unique proposition to even more customers across the globe”.

Beighton, who hasn’t yet begun his new leadership role (he starts in August), added: “Having worked with Stuart at ASOS, I have experienced firsthand the operational impact he can have on a business. As a founder of two successful logistics companies, Stuart will also bring a valuable entrepreneurial mindset to Matchesfashion, helping it to remain agile, innovative, and customer centric.

“I am sure we will all benefit from his industry insight and extensive experience in e-commerce, global logistics, and retail. I am immensely looking forward to being reunited with Stuart and starting to work with the exceptional wider team, including our new CFO, Dave Murray.”
