Monsoon opens second new concept store with Bluewater debut

After its successful central London launch, Monsoon has opened its second boutique concept store at the Bluewater mall in Kent. The company said it’s “bringing a fresh new store experience to its customers as part of the regeneration of retail in the UK”.

The first opening was on Marylebone High Street and came after a tough time for the company that saw an administration filing and store closures. But it now has plans to open a whole chain for its new concept that it said returns the Monsoon brand to its roots.

The refreshed concept is the second of around 30 stores that are planned for the UK and Ireland and takes inspiration both in its offer and the store interior from the heritage of the brand and its India-inspired colour palette and patterns.

Installations in the store tell the stories of the brand’s product creation and craft, showcasing artisan wood-blocking and weaving techniques, with bursts of colour that “represent the bold tones used by the brand since its foundation”.

The firm said it’s “taking the brand back to its origins, celebrating its heritage, craft and commitment to sustainability and ethical trade”.

The new concept aims to differentiate Monsoon and offer a curated collection of its ranges that also include kids, home and bridal. It will also, like the Marylebone High Street location, showcase the brand’s new artisan collection, Artisan Studio, made from 100% organic cotton and other sustainable materials.

And there’s a focus on the brand’s charitable work through The Monsoon Accessorize Trust in-store too.
