Inditex has joined forces with Havaianas, the famous flip-flop brand owned by Grupo Alpargatas, in a multi-brand collaboration with its young fashion labels Pull&Bear and Stradivarius. The partnership will see the Brazilian company expand its retail and online presence, whilst Inditex will benefit from a broader product offering and the expertise of a sector specialist to increase its market share.

Two styles from the Havaianas x Stradivarius collection - Stradivarius

Building on a history of footwear collaborations between Bershka and sneaker brand Converse, Inditex has teamed up with the world’s leading flip-flop brand. And it comes in the form of several Havaianas styles that will launch during Spring Summer 2019 to complete Stradivarius and Pull&Bear’s collection. Style-wise, a black monochrome sandal and three multicoloured versions costing less than 20 euros give Stradivarius’ summer range a new twist.

Meanwhile, Pull&Bear will launch a larger Havaianas range comprising a unisex and a women’s collection. With a colour palette ranging from classic tones such as blue, black and dark green to more feminine shades including hot pink and baby blue, all sandals feature Havaiana’s logo and will retail for 15.90 euros. The Brazilian flip flops are designed to give the brand’s summer collection a boost, particularly the men’s and women’s swimwear offering.

As part of the agreement, Inditex customers will be able to shop Havaianas sandals at a lower price than usual, as prices for the label’s flip flops range based on their collection, print and design. The sandals will be available to purchase in Stradivarius and Pull&Bear stores and online, further expanding the Brazilian label’s distribution and boosting its international reputation. At the same time, Inditex benefits from a broader footwear offering and having its name associated with an iconic brand.

Havaianas is owned by Alpargatas, which ended 2018 with revenues of 3.9 billion reais (894 million euros), up 4.9% on the previous year. It recently appointed Scott Ziegler as head of retailer in the EMEA region.

During the same period, Inditex sales grew 3% to 26.14 billion euros, supported by a 27% increase in online sales to 3.2 billion euros. Pull&Bear is the group’s third largest brand in terms of revenue behind Zara and Bershka, making 1.86 billion euros in sales in 2018. Stradivarius is the group’s fifth largest firm with sales of 1.53 billion euros. All footwear sold by Inditex brands is manufactured by Tempe, which is 50% owned by the Spanish retailer. In 2018 Tempe posted record revenues of 1.31 billion euros.
