Puma unveils collab with artist Shantell Martin

The sports brand has unveiled a new collection of sneakers and apparel in partnership with the British visual artist Shantell Martin. The capsule comprises emblematic Puma footwear and a selection of clothing, all featuring the artist's signature illustrations and lettering, giving certain pieces an almost artisanal design.

This entirely black and white (or white and black) spring/summer 2018 collection combines Puma models -- such as the Suede sneaker which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year -- with the unique design DNA of Shantell Martin, known for her stream-of-consciousness drawings and light projections.

"I had a lot of fun collaborating with Puma on our new collection for spring/summer '18. It was cool being able to apply my artistic DNA to iconic Puma silhouettes, but what I particularly loved about the project was hiding little messages throughout the product offering to make something truly unique," said the artist.

The collection sees Puma's "Leadcat" slide go customizable, with four removable leather straps, while the "Suede" comes in a black colorway with a multitude of white details. The "Clyde" and the "Platform Strap" get hand-written messages. There's also a range of apparel, including T-shirts, a cap, a two-layer jacket and a jumpsuit.

Part of the Puma x Shantell Martin collection is already out online at www.puma.com, in Puma stores and via selected resellers. A second drop is scheduled April 21.
