Ralph Lauren to stage masterclasses for students across the UK

Published

Ralph Lauren has teamed up with Graduate Fashion Foundation to run a series of national masterclasses at five universities across the UK.

Graduate Fashion Foundation

The programme of talks started on Monday 12 November at Bournemouth University and will finish on Friday 16 November at the Edinburgh College of Art. Further masterclasses will be held at Epson’s University for the Creative Arts, Nottingham Trent University and Manchester School of Art, where students from neighbouring universities and colleges will also have the opportunity to attend.

The masterclasses are part of Graduate Fashion Foundation’s efforts to support and guide new talent as they enter the workforce. Founded in 1991, the charity is also behind the annual Graduate Fashion Week, which showcases the work of students from over 95 universities and colleges.

The series of talks will provide career tips for graduates such as how to make the most of opportunities on offer and the best way to secure jobs. Two speakers from Graduate Fashion Week and one from Ralph Lauren will also talk about creating a successful graduate collection, choosing the right music for a show and how to succeed at Graduate Fashion Week.

Additionally, representatives of Ralph Lauren will be interviewing portfolios from second year students for opportunities at the company’s headquarters in New York next summer.

Martyn Roberts, creative director of Graduate Fashion Week commented: “We are extremely proud to partner with Ralph Lauren on our 2018 Graduate Fashion Foundation series of National Masterclasses.

“Each year GFF sees exciting and innovative fashion talent take over the catwalk and exhibitions at our main Graduate Fashion Week event. We look forward to sharing industry knowledge and advice with undergraduates from 20 of the charity’s member universities as we continue to support them entering the fashion industry.”

Graduate Fashion Foundation’s next Fashion Week will return to The Old Truman Brewery in Shoreditch on 2-5 June 2019. Last year, over 5,000 fashion graduates showed their work at the event.
