ZURICH, June 10 (Reuters) - Swiss auto parts and textiles company Rieter (RIEN.S) could consider breaking up its business into separate parts as its battles plummeting demand, its chief executive was quoted on Wednesday 10 June as saying.

Rieter production engineers working on a spinning machine.

"I can envisage that this path will be examined anew due to the changed environment," Hartmut Reuter told HandelsZeitung, when asked whether Rieter might consider splitting off part of its business.

"What we decide -- one, two or three pillars -- will be communicated when we have ended discussions," Reuter said. "Our board is busy at all times considering such questions -- there can be no talk of taboos."

Rieter has come under pressure as the slump in the auto industry and textile sector has hit demand for its products. It is currently split into two business units, car parts and textile machinery. (Reporting by Sam Cage; Editing by Dan Lalor)
