River Island launches Sofia Richie summer edit collection

River Island has joined forces with model and designer Sofia Richie who has curated a summer collection for the retailer featuring a range of seasonal essentials.

And California is key here with Richie known for “her elegant, clean-cut style and Californian attitude”. The company said her taste “synthesises River Island’s creative vision, making her the perfect match for the brand as they move towards a new phase of sophistication”.

Launched this week, the pieces include a relaxed and oversized natural linen suit, a tailored jacket dress with cutout detail, and essential summer denim with a hint of distressed detailing. 

As life gets back to normal and shoppers are looking for smarter wardrobe options, for this season, River Island said it’s paving the way “for a new wave of modern classics through a range of original and tailored cuts”. With a colour palette ranging from burnt orange to earth-toned neutrals, the broad style offering is intended to offer the consumer “a wide choice of outfits, for any occasion”.

The edit comes with a campaign shot by Clara Balzary in Joshua Tree, California, with images that “encapsulate the gold, hazy desert environment, echoing Balzary’s distinct vintage aesthetic”. Meanwhile, the "warm, dreamlike background illuminates the tones of the collection, creating a visually arresting campaign that vividly conveys the SS22 colour palette”.
