Rock and romance at Chloé Pre-Fall 2015

Clare Waight Keller unveiled her latest collection at Chloé, a dreamy 70s rock-inspired look for Pre-Fall 2015. 

With military buttons on flat-fronted wide-legged trousers, 70s tailored jackets, and rich fabrics ranging from colorful tweeds, houndstooth, Art Nouveau floral brocade and broderie anglaise to metallic floral embroidery as well as oversized blanket coats in picnic rug plaids, this was a collection about romantic escapism.

"We were looking at the glam rock of David Bowie and Marc Bolan mixed with the softer side of Kate Bush," explained Claire Waight Keller. "Kate came from a dreamy countryside idyll to the grunge of the city -- but always kicked around in her brothers’ coats and leather jackets."

It wasn't all retro and autumnal though. There were a few sporty touches like the gray marl jogging bottoms and python bags, and a hint of late summer with lighter dresses with caramel colored floral detailing. Contrast stitching on the mule slingbacks added another country girl touch, along with some rock 'n' roll paisley, quilted leather jackets and patchwork shearlings. Another key theme was the abundance of warm knits, which came enriched with grey cashmere or ribbed velvet.
