Shu Hung joins Everlane as new global creative director

Published

Following the recent appointment of Sophie Bambuck as San Francisco-based direct-to-consumer fashion retailer Everlane’s CMO, Shu Hung has joined the brand’s marketing team as global creative director.

In her new role, Hung will oversee Everlane’s creative teams, including its in-house production team as it works on creative campaigns, and will be responsible for developing the brand’s identity and voice, as well as increasing brand awareness.

She will report to Bambuck and will also support the building-out of a best-in-class creative team at the brand.

She joins Everlane from Uniqlo, where she spent five years serving as global executive creative director. In this role, she was responsible for building a cross-functional, in-house creative team across the company’s offices in Tokyo, Portland, New York, Shanghai and Paris. During her time at the brand, she helped launch the Uniqlo U collection and managed collaborations with designers including JW Anderson and Jil Sander.

Her previous experience also includes a seven-year stint at Nike, overlapping with Bambuck’s 13 years at the American sportswear giant. At Nike, Hung worked as part of the brand marketing team and managed projects such as the London Olympics, Nike Training Club and NikeLab.

“Shu is a clear leader in the creative industry – I’m thrilled to welcome her to Everlane to lead the brand creative team toward the next evolution as we scale the brand globally,” said Bambuck in a release.

“I’m excited to join a brand which has a firm commitment to inspiring people to do good – the willingness to promote change and constantly evolve resonates,” added Hung. “I’m looking forward to applying my design thinking to an organization that is clearly passionate about all aspects of the customer experience, from brand communication to products and services.”

Founded as an ethical online clothing brand in 2011, Everlane has since launched brick-and-mortar locations in New York, Los Angeles, Palo Alto, Boston and Austin, Texas, as well as in its hometown of San Francisco.
