St Pancras upgrades luxury credentials with new Chanel and Calvin Klein stores

A raft of high profile luxury brands are set to open stores at St Pancras International as the busy London station reports strong footfall and retail performances.

French fashion house Chanel is to open a 570 sq ft boutique in the station’s Arcade in June, joining high street and aspirational brands including John Lewis, Fortnum & Mason, Whistles and Aspinal of London

Calvin Klein and Ted Baker will open their 700-800 square foot stores in early summer, while Oliver Bonas will move to a larger 1,200 sq ft store in another part of the station. Other fresh faces to St Pancras this summer will include French childrenswear brand Petit Bateau and design-driven Swedish stationery brand Kikki.K.

Wendy Spinks, Commercial Director of HS1 Ltd, the company that owns and operates St Pancras International, said: “We see these new openings as a massive vote of confidence in the continued success of St Pancras International as a leading retail destination.”

The railway station has been voted as nation’s favourite each year since it reopened in 2007 and is visited by more than 48 million people every year. According to data provided by HS1, almost one in six visitors are not passengers and come specifically to take advantage of the diverse retailers and wide selection of food and drink on offer.

The new openings underline St Pancras’ status as a shopping destination in its own right as high streets and traditional shopping centres across the UK continue to struggle to survive.
