Stéphane Rolland launches ready-to-wear collection

Stéphane Rolland is launching a ready-to-wear collection, starting in January, as the Paris couturier extends his range.

And for his prêt-a-porter debut, Rolland will focus on a “opulent cocooning" line: inspired by the silk pajamas of the 1930s.

In contrast to his grand romantic aesthetic in his couture collections, most of the garments in his ready-to-wear range will be made in one-size-fits-all to appeal to all women.

The new collection features both day and evening wear – with 11 silk silhouettes that include asymmetrical dresses, palazzo pants, kaftans and tops. All made in Rolland’s preferred palette of natural colors - cream and black, enhanced by spicy touches of saffron, olive green, chestnut and deep burgundy.

“The purity of the lines and the graphic movement, signatures of Stéphane Rolland, mark the Prêt-a-Porter in the direct continuity of the Haute Couture line, whose codes are underlined in each RTW silhouette,” said the house in a release.

Just weeks before the Covid pandemic struck in February 2020, Rolland launched his debut handbag, a key strategic move for the couturier. Entitled Pop, the faux-rectangular-shaped bag with a curved bottom reached retailers in the spring.

“Casino pajamas, kaftan, tunic, 70s jumpsuit, gipsy set and dress… each volume of my Prêt à Porter collection expresses nonchalance, comfort and pleasure,” the designer told FashionNetwork.com.

Rolland, who is known for his architectural draping and sense of occasion, has created clothes for a wide range of boldface names, notably Celine Dion, Rita Ora, Lady Gaga and Cindy Bruna.

Born just east of Paris and trained in the ateliers of Balenciaga and Jean Louis Scherrer, Rolland will make his first RTW available online in January.
