Temperley London opens Selfridges pop-up

Published
Mar 27, 2018

Temperley London is the latest brand to open a pop-up shop inside Selfridges as the luxury department store continues to boost seasonal interest in its offer with a series of designer brand pop-ups.

Temperley London

The Temperley location features the label’s SS18 Temperley Riviera womenswear collection and will be available in the retailer’s Designer Galleries until May 6.

The collection features cinched-in waists paired with relaxed, rolled sleeves “creating silhouettes reminiscent of 1950s sirens.” Hand-painted, spiralling cacti spines inspired by the lush gardens of the Mediterranean brighten up textured seersucker sundresses. And the horticultural theme flows into embroidery with aerial views of symmetrical French topiary gardens combined with sheer polka dot chiffon and tulle ruffles.

Highlights at the pop-up shop include the maze embroidered dress and skirt in peach hues which are exclusive to Selfridges, along with high-shine eveningwear and “effortless daywear”.

It’s all part of the important process of boosting brand awareness (as well as sales) at London-based Temperley, which has had a tough time in recent years. It reported losses for the years 2014, 15 and 16, albeit those losses were smaller by the end of that three-year period than at the start of it.

The company seems to be more upbeat this year and was helped in recent weeks by the Duchess of Cambridge being photographed in one of the brand’s dresses, an endorsement that should appeal to its customer profile. And the news that it had raised a further £1.8 million from existing shareholders, including Alice Temperley herself, back in January also puts it on a sounder footing in the current volatile environment.
