Temperley London, De La Vali to host public shows at LFW in February

Published
Dec 5, 2019

Continuing its efforts to align itself more closely with consumers’ appetite for fashion experiences, the British Fashion Council has revealed the two designers who will be staging public-facing catwalk shows during London Fashion Week in February.

Temperley

The initiative launched in September in collaboration with two prominent designers: House of Holland and Self-Portrait.

This season, the focus is on Temperley London and De la Vali, a brand that is probably less known to the wider public, but admired by fashion insiders for its silk and satin dresses and feminine edge.

Established by Jana Sascha Haveman and Laura Castro, De la Vali is a boutique womenswear brand born in Ibiza, and the island serves as the foundation of its free spirited and bohemian essence.

The ‘cool-girl’ brand is stocked in all major fashion retailers including Selfridges, Net-A-Porter, Farfetch, Browns, Harvey Nichols and Moda Operandi, and it has been spotted on celebrities and influencers such as Kendall Jenner, Dua Lipa and Kate Moss.

In contrast, Alice Temperley of Temperley London has been part of the British fashion community since bursting into the scene in 2000, and in 2011 she was awarded an MBE for services to the industry. Her brand is famous for its intricate gowns and ephemeral beauty.

Members of the public can buy tickets to the shows, taking place on 15 and 16 December, online for £135 for a standard pass or £245 for a VIP experience.

Ticket holders will also have access to The Store X, 180 Strand, which is where the British Fashion Council is hosting the Positive Fashion Designer Exhibition: an initiative designed to champion industry best practice and encourage future business decisions to create positive change;  and the DiscoveryLAB: an experiential space where fashion meets art, technology and music.

A series of industry-led talks and panel discussions with key industry figures will be presented at the Positive Fashion Designer Exhibition. The line-up of speakers is yet to be confirmed, but in September it included Billy Porter, Eva Chen, Henry Holland and IAMDDB.
